Prima® Wawona Response to COVID-19

Prima® Wawona would like to share some of the continuous precautions currently in place to protect all our employees and customers amid concerns from COVID-19.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), COVID-19 is spread mainly from person to person. There is no evidence of the illnesses caused by transferring of the virus from food or food packaging. In addition, our food safety, health and hygiene practices that protect consumers from common foodborne illnesses are also effective to manage the risk associated with COVID-19.

Based on the latest guidance from the CDC https://is.gd/PvYcBQ , the U.S. Department of State, and international public health organizations, we are doubling our efforts to safeguard workers in the field, at all our facilities, and throughout the supply chain.

This includes:

  • An ongoing employee educational campaign and continuous COVID-19 prevention training.
  • Prescreening of employees at production facilities.
  • Onsite COVID-19 vaccination clinics that have benefited over 1,500 employees.
  • Partnership with local health department and Family Health Care Network for more Covid-19 Vaccination clinics throughout the year.
  • Immediate contact tracing by a dedicated Contact Tracing Team that includes the identification and exclusion of cases and suspect cases.
  • Increasing the number of handwash and sanitization stations in all workplaces.
  • Increasing the frequency of routine cleaning and sanitizing of high-touch surfaces such as shared office equipment, time clocks, doorknobs, countertops, tables, etc.
  • Allowing employees to work from home if possible.
  • Social distancing, including reducing the number and size of meetings within the company and with customers and suppliers.
  • Minimizing worker travel and maximizing the use of remote communications.
  • Refreshing food safety, health and hygiene training for all.
  • Reviewing and updating company-wide emergency response procedures to meet this new challenge.
  • All drivers, contractors, guests, etc., must follow our personal health and hygiene policies, and if exhibiting any symptoms of illness, are not allowed on premises.
  • Requiring all employees with COVID-19 symptoms or who have come in contact with someone else who has symptoms to remain home and notify their supervisors immediately.
  • Keeping up to date on the latest CDC and FDA notices and recommendations.

Please be assured of our unwavering dedication to deliver a healthy, wholesome product and to the safety of our employees and community. We will update you with more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, thank you for your continued loyalty and trust in Prima® Wawona.
