The company’s shift in priorities has started with the transformation of 2,100 acres of almond trees over to stone fruit trees as part of its Raisin City redevelopment. The redevelopment project is a strategic growth play for the company to continue being the dedicated industry leader in the cultivation of Stone Fruit. By removing the almond trees, Prima Wawona can focus on our number one priority – to breed, grow, pack, and ship the best stone fruit in the world. What does this bring to the local community? More local jobs and a significant increase in employment for the Fresno County area.

Prima Wawona will implement new sustainable agriculture practices in this project. The Raisin City redevelopment will have 32 water wells powered by a 5-acre solar farm. It will produce more than enough energy to give back to the grid.  By using the most modern irrigation technology, water savings of 30-40% per acre will be achieved versus traditional irrigation practices. Prima Wawona will also utilize advanced organic farming technique and food safety practices to provide exceptional tree fruit for the produce industry.
